Rio Grande Botanic Garden
Located across the plaza from the Albuquerque Aquarium and bordered on the west
by the famed Rio Grande and the largest cottonwood gallery forest in the world, the
lush and peaceful Rio Grande Botanic Garden is an oasis in the desert. The Garden
currently encompasses 36 developed acres, including a 10,000 square foot glass
conservatory housing native and exotic plants from desert and Mediterranean climate
zones and the seasonal PNM Butterfly Pavilion featuring hundreds of free-flying North
American butterflies and moths. (The butterfly pavilion is closed for the winter.)
Walking distance through the aquarium and garden is about 1.6 miles.

Tickets are sold every day from 9am to one-half hour before closing.
Aquarium and Garden only

Combo Admission to the Aquarium, Garden and Zoo
Same day combo tickets to visit all three facilities are sold until 12 noon every day.
After 12 noon, there is generally not enough time to see all three facilities. Combo
tickets include unlimited train rides on the Rio Line , which travels between the
Aquarium/Garden and the Zoo, and the Thunderbird Express, which makes a loop
around the Zoo. Combo tickets may be purchased exclusively from cashiers located
at the front entrances of the aquarium, botanic garden and zoo.

The PNM Butterfly Pavilion in the Rio Grande Botanic Garden will be open from May
26 to September 30, 2006, during the warm months when butterflies are active.
Daily hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm (closing at 6:00pm Saturdays and Sundays
through Sept. 3; closing at 8:00pm Thursdays during Summer Nights concerts). The
conservatory exhibits several hundred North American butterflies and thousands of
nectar plants.
River of Lights
From Saturday, Nov. 25, through Dec. 30 (closed Dec.
24 & 25), Rio Grande Botanic Garden visitors can
enjoy the magic of hundreds of thousands of twinkling
lights and dazzling holiday displays at New Mexico's largest walk-through light show.
Each year's show unveils a number of ingenious new sculptures and stunning
displays designed and constructed by Albuquerque BioPark artists and craftsmen.
Tickets are $6 for adults; $2 for children 3-12. There are no senior discounts. No
charge for children two and younger. Advance tickets may be purchased from any
BioPark cashier or buy tickets online courtesy of the New Mexico BioPark Society.
On-site ticket sales start at 5:30pm and end promptly at 8:30 pm. No telephone
orders, please. On December 15, 16, 17, 22 and 23 only, visitors may park at the
Heritage Farm parking lot, and purchase tickets and enter River of Lights at the Cider
Barn.
